Bi metal band saw blade Claims
1. Bimetallic saw band, characterized by a support band made of a steel containing 0.2 to 0.45% of
carbon, 1.0-5.0% chromium, 0.1-0.5% vanadium, 0.01-0.30% niobium and/or tantalum, 0.1-2.0%
tungsten and/or 0.1 to 1.0% copper as well as less than 0.2% cobalt, as well as metal tips
hard compound of at least 25% tungsten carbide, 5 to 15% cobalt and 0.5 to 5% of at least one
Cr3C2, VC and NbC carbides and up to 3% titanium carbide and/or tantalum as color stabilizers
grain with a grain size of tungsten carbides less than 5 Pm.
2. Saw blade according to claim 1, characterized by a backing strip containing 1.8 to 4.0% chromium,
0.1 to 0.5% vanadium as well as 0.01 to 0.30% niobium and/or tantalum separately or simultaneously.
3. Saw blade according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by a backing strip containing 1.5 to 2.5% chromium.
4. Saw blade according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the contents of tungsten, vanadium and
niobium of the support ribbon satisfy the condition:
5. Saw blade according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the grain size of the points in
hard metal is less than 0.8 Pm.
6. Saw blade according to claim 5, characterized in that the grain size is less than 0.1 μm.
7. A method of manufacturing a saw blade according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that a blank
of steel strip is contoured with a support strip and austenitized by annealing under tensile stress
at a temperature of 1050 to 1220°C, quenched with a cooling rate greater than 300°C/min and
tempered at a temperature of 500 to 600°C as well as equipped with hard metal tips.
8. Use of a saw blade according to one of claims 1 to 7 for cutting materials of hardness and
high wear resistance with cutting speeds of at least 45 m/min.
